Weatherization Energy Auditor Part-Time Position

SCICAP is a local non-profit, with the Weatherization Assistance Program working to improve the energy efficiency and health of our client’s homes.

Location: Chariton, IA

Qualifications/Experience:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years’ experience in building science/construction
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50# repeatedly, climb ladders
  • Familiarity with current home performance technologies and their implementation, including but not limited to building science fundamentals, building envelope strategies, mechanical systems efficiency, and other topics
  • Building Performance Institute certification a plus, or able to sit for exam within 3 years
Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Perform home energy audits, including diagnostic testing and running computer-based energy models
  • Document and communicate results of energy audits through written reports
  • Complete work orders to send for bid
  • Travel – the energy auditor should expect to be available for travel to regional and national conferences
  • Work environment – to include both office and client’s homes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally work in precarious places, i.e. ladders and rooftops
