Disaster Case Advocacy

A disaster, such as a flood or a major storm, can turn your life upside down. When this happens, Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) can provide case management to help you find resources and make a plan. HSEM delivers this service whenever Iowa’s Governor declares your county a disaster area. There are no income limits for case management.

INDIVIDUAL DISASTER ASSISTANCE

If you meet income guidelines, you may be able to receive financial help from the Iowa Individual Disaster Assistance program.

As of August 1, 2025, South Central Iowa community Action Program will no longer be administering the Individual Assistance Grant Program (IIAGP) or Disaster Case Advocacy Program (DCA).  Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management (HSEM) are taking over the administration of both of these programs.  To learn more, please visit https://homelandsecurity.iowa.gov/disasters/individual-disaster-assistance-programs or email: individualdisasterassistance@iowa.gov.
